Job Description

Rosh (head) Tefillah is a Jewish educator who oversees the program development and integration of Jewish music and prayer around camp. The Tefillah program ensures that camp services are run according to the standards of the Conservative movement as set by Ramah Day Camp and National Ramah. This person is a resource for the staff in camp as they work to incorporate Jewish song, prayers, and music, into camp life and programming.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work closely with Program Directors and Camp Director to enact vision of teffilot for the
summer, and create and environment for engaging, fun, campy, positive, and
participatory tefillot
• Tefillah/Prayer Coordination:
– Schedule and support hanhallah and staff training week tefillot
– Plan and execute Kabbalat Shabbat, Tisha B’av (when relevant), and other
Campwide tefillot
– Support/advise all tzevet in planning tefillot
– Oversee and ensure that any tefillah supplies are in their right locations (siddurim,
Torah, Shabbat candles, etc.)
• Liason for visiting Rabbis and Educators
– Coordinate participation in camp programming, including morning tefillot,
chuggim, Shabbat, and more!
• Supervise, and work with, the Tefillah Team of tzevet, in their collaboration for
Campwide tefillah
• Work with Camp Director and Program Directors during the Winter and Spring to build
tefillah plan

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understand the development needs of youth between the ages of 4-13.
• Comfort in Conservative Jewish Community
• Skilled at Experiential Education
• Strong Jewish Literacy and High Hebrew Language Abilities

Commitment and Compensation:

• Ramah Day Camp runs Monday – Friday from June 24th, 2024, through August 9th, 2024.
Rosh Tefillah must be able to be at camp from 8:30am – 5pm.
• Mandatory Staff Training Week runs Monday June 17th through Friday June 21st
• Winter and Spring work will be expected. This includes meeting with the programming
team, and camp director, to plan for the summer season.
