Cantorial Soloist / Song Leader
Job Description
Shir Hadash, a small Reconstructionist Community in St. Louis (40 members) seeks an energetic Cantorial Soloist / Song Leader to co-lead our 2025 High Holiday services in coordination with our newly ordained Rabbi. This can be an annual opportunity for the right candidate. Our previous soloist was with us for 11 years.
We’re looking for someone who will partner with our Rabbi (who has led our services for the past three years) and Ritul Committee to create a meaningful and musical spiritual experience for our community. We have comprehensive service outlines, recordings of previous melodies used, and are flexible and willing to incorporate new prayers and melodies. Guitar or other musical accompaniment to singing is preferred.
High Holiday duties include working with our Rabbi and our volunteer High Holiday Shepherd (coordinator) to prepare and finalize service outlines and to be accomplished in the delivery of all responsibilities. We have a very participative community; members read Torah, chant Haftorah, and sometimes contribute musically.

Erev Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre 7:45 – 9:30 PM
Yom Kippur Day (includes afternoon break) 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Break the Fast Potluck 7:00 – 8:30 PM
