Weekly Religious School Songleader
Job Description
We seek a songleader for 24-25 Shabbat mornings a year in our dynamic and growing religious school.
The songleader would co-lead a 45-minute Tefillah for grades 4th-7th alongside SAJ’s Director of Education and Family Outreach, who will supervise the songleader and be responsible for the non-musical components of the services.
Songleader will also lead Jewish music education for KG-3rd graders.
We seek a songleader who:
Plays guitar or a similar instrument
Is inclusive and welcoming of students and inspires them to find meaning in prayer and music
Can engage students of diverse ages
Is comfortable with traditional and Reconstructionist liturgy or open to becoming familiar with it
Has a repertoire of traditional and contemporary melodies and a willingness to learn melodies that are part of the SAJ culture
Pay is $200/session.
SAJ is a Jewish home where everyone’s voice is valued and heard. SAJers of all ages gather on Shabbat to pray, sing, learn, connect, and eat. Our educational programs are intentionally held on Shabbat mornings to fully integrate students and families into our thriving intergenerational community and to enable them to experience the rhythm and joy of Jewish time.
