Job Description
Beth Shalom: The Center for Jewish Life is a small community in Northern California. There are about 100 family units, with a strong lay leadership in all aspects of community life. Beth Shalom is an egalitarian, affirming community affiliated with the USCJ and uses Machzor Lev Shalem. We lean progressive-traditional and have congregants from a host of Jewish backgrounds. We also have a sizeable Spanish speaking community, facility with Spanish is a plus. In our small and very diverse community, we try to make sure we offer something for everyone.
Beth Shalom is seeking a High Holiday Cantorial Soloist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in traditional High Holiday tfilah and nusach and be equally excited by creative, lively musical worship. Leadership with guitar or percussion is desired, but not required. We are seeking someone to collaborate with Rabbi Cantor Caitlin Bromberg to design and share in the leadership of meaningful and spiritual Rosh HaShanah (Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah morning, Tashlich, Second Day Rosh Hashanah) and Yom Kippur (Erev Yom Kippur Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur morning, Yikzkor, Mincha and Neilah) services.
We offer a generous compensation package up to $8000 inclusive of all travel expenses.
Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra mountains, travel in the area is a beautiful way to spend the Aseret Yamei Tshuvah.
