Song Leader
Job Description
Come bring Jewish joy through song and prayer at a fabulous Jewish Day School for Grades Pre-K through 8!
The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Song Leader for the 2024-2025 school year. In our warm and inclusive community, children are appreciated for who they are as they learn and develop their identities. With the school’s foundation of rigorous academics and differentiated instruction and a mission rooted in social justice, we want our students to ask the tough questions—not just the who, what, where, but the how, why, and what can I do to fix it? Rashi graduates have the confidence to try new things and to fail forward. With kindness at their core, they become empowered learners, change agents, global Jewish citizens, and good friends.
We seek a collaborative and dynamic song leader to advance the work of Jewish education for the school, namely to help students develop a deep and lifelong love of Judaism and Israel, and a sense of pride in their identities as Jews. This individual would work closely with the service leaders to create warm, uplifting and joyful student worship experiences.
We seek candidates who are well versed in Reform Jewish practice and/or comfortable in a liberal Jewish environment where students will come from a diverse spectrum of Jewish practice. Candidates must be experienced song leaders who play the guitar, who are familiar with and/or capable of learning our current repertoire. Candidates should also remain current on new Jewish music and melodies so that they can help us expand our collection of music as well.
This is a part-time position for $50-$60/hour. Worship happens on Mondays and Thursdays between 8:15 and 11:20 and on Fridays between 2:00 and 3:00. There is a possibility of an additional 30 minutes on Monday to teach music to our pre-K students. Ideal candidates who can be at Rashi for all of those times, but we can be flexible for the right candidate.
How to apply:
Interested candidates should email a cover letter, resume, and professional references to jobs@rashi.org.
