Youth Song Leader

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and spirited Song Leader for our Youth Education programs, which run from September-May. We hold sessions on 22 Sundays for grades K-7 and 9 sessions for PreK from 9:30-11:30 am. We also have monthly holiday and Shabbat celebrations. A full calendar will be provided at the beginning of each school year.

Key Responsibilities:
*Co-plan and co-lead Youth T’filah for ages PreK-7th grade with our Clergy and Director of Education
*Music specialist for PreK-3rd grade enrichment time – visit classrooms to teach songs and prayer to students, and play musical games
*Plan and co-lead High Holy Day Services for youth and teens, as well as family worship services as needed.
*Shabbat and Holiday song leading (Chanukah, Tu B’Shevat Seder, Purim Shpiel, Passover Seder for families, Passover activity day)
*Participate in periodic professional development opportunities along with our faculty
*Song leader for annual congregational retreat, as needed

Essential skills:
*Plays guitar and/or piano
*Knowledge of Jewish children’s music
*Knowledge of Jewish holidays, customs and prayers
*Ability to lead youth in music with energy and creativity
*Experience working with children ages 4-13
*Songleading experience with small and large groups
*Organized and prompt
*Experience with Google docs and sheets

Reports to the Director of Education, works closely with our clergy and youth education faculty.
