Job Description
We’re hiring a song leader to be a part of our teaching team starting this fall. Our innovative new learning community, Kehillah (community), helps learners learn on Jewish time, meeting Saturday mornings for toddlers through 6th grade. At Kehillah on Shabbat mornings, learners gain confidence to engage with Jewish texts, traditions, and prayers that support them in their lives right now through a Reconstructionist approach and project-based learning. Learners engage with Hebrew, prayer, and music in a variety of tefillah experiences on Saturday mornings.
Our innovative program includes teaching anti-racism as a Jewish value, responsive project-based learning, tefillah options for different age groups, and flexibility to incorporate teacher skills and interests such as arts, STEM, and movement.

*What You’ll Do:
– Lead music for toddlers through 6th grade learners during tefillah during religious school (Saturday mornings 9:30 am – noon)
– Provide a musical component to classroom activities, working with teachers and the director
– Plan meaningful and engaging tefillah and music components of our program alongside the Education Director
– Grow your teaching practice through teacher meetings and professional development opportunities
*We’re Looking For a Person Who:
– Plays guitar and sings a range of Jewish music
– Is open to learning new songs and prayer components to be consistent with our community’s minhag
– Models enthusiasm and curiosity about Jewish life
– Loves spending time with children and have experience leading music experiences (at religious school, camp, as a teen, or other settings)
– Embraces the diversity of our community, including race, income, sexual orientation, gender expression, disability, and interfaith/multifaith status
– Is ready to build and maintain a positive and collaborative culture
– Is dependable and can communicate effectively

– Our teaching team is a reflective, supportive community, with opportunities to grow your practice as an educator. Our Director of Education is known for supporting her team and creating an enthusiastic, close-knit group of teachers.
– Pay begins at $40/hour and is commensurate with experience above that rate
– Prep time, professional development, and reflection are compensated!
– The school year will be September 2023 to May 2024
