Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and talented Song Leader to join our team for the upcoming summer season. The Song Leader plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of community and spirit through music, song, and t’filot. This individual will lead daily singing sessions, engage campers and staff in musical activities, and contribute to the overall energy and enthusiasm of camp life.

Responsibilities:

Lead song sessions during the day, daily and Shabbat services, and other camp gatherings.
Run an elective for campers who are interested in music, song writing, and singing.
Teach and introduce new songs to campers and staff, incorporating a diverse range of musical styles and genres.
Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where campers of all backgrounds feel comfortable participating in musical activities.
Serve as a role model and mentor to campers, encouraging their musical talents and fostering a love for singing and performing.
Assist in the planning and execution of camp-wide events, including talent shows, concerts, and campfires.
Support campers and staff in developing confidence and self-expression through music and performance.

Qualifications:

Strong musical background with proficiency in playing a musical instrument (guitar, piano, etc.) preferred.
Experience leading group song sessions and facilitating musical activities for children.
Enthusiasm for Jewish music and familiarity with Jewish songs, prayers, and traditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with campers and staff of all ages.
Energetic, creative, and adaptable, with a passion for inspiring others through music and song.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive camp culture.
Previous experience working at a summer camp or with youth groups is a plus.

Additional Information:

This is a residential position, and the Song Leader will reside on-site at Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake for the duration of the summer season.
Staff training and orientation will be provided prior to the start of the camp season.
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the camp season, June 19-August 19
