Education Director at Beth El Synagogue
Role
The Educator Director will lead, guide, and inspire programming that provides our families with the skills and desire for Jewish living. We seek a savvy Jewish educator with a vision for engaging and educating our community’s children and their families – from expecting parents to high school graduation. Candidates with rabbinic ordination may be called upon to assist our Rabbi with ritual and lifecycle officiation in his absence.
Responsibilities
1) Evaluate / create curriculum for all age groups within our Talmud Torah Program. We are seeking an individual who possesses the ability to introduce modern idea and innovate approaches, navigating the ever-changing educational landscape with adaptability and foresight.
2) Responsible for vibrant pre-Kadima, Kadima and USY programming including supervision of part time staff with potential to grow the team
3) Collaborate with Rabbi to develop robust inter-generational family education
4) Recruiting, hiring and retaining knowledgeable and effective teachers and youth group leaders
5) Administer day to day operation of the Talmud Torah
6) Oversee Youth and Family Services for Shabbat and holidays
7) Measure and evaluate engagement and program success
8) Manage attendance and contacts through Shulcloud software
9) Ritual and lifecycle officiation when Rabbi is not available (for candidates with Rabbinic ordination/candidacy)
Desired Background
1) Strong record of successful educational administration including knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of the Conservative movement
2) Rabbinical ordination preferred, but not required
3) Exceptional oral and written communication skills to relate effectively with kids, families and the community
4) Leadership skills to help guide/mentor teachers and staff
5) Ability to critically think about meeting the current and changing needs of our community
6) Self-starter who effectively manages time as a resource. Gives balanced attention to appropriate long term and short-term priorities
7) See themselves being part of a larger team
Compensation and Benefits
Beth El offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package as summarized below. More specific information on benefits can be provided to candidates invited for an interview.
Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience and education (e.g. Rabbinic ordination)
